| SDek Rail - 45 degree & non standard angles with a single post |
 |
Step 1: Determine how far in from the deck edge you want the
railngs to run. Using a straight edge, mark out the center line of the post anchors from each side until they intersect at the angle. As an example, if you
wish to bring the railings in from the deck edge by 1/4 inch, you would make your lines at 1-7/8". Half the anchor is 1-5/8" plus the 1/4 inch from the
deck edge. This will become the center line of your railings. Position the post anchor so that the center holes for securing to the deck are visible. The
anchor should now be equally split between the two intersecting lines. |
 |
Step 2: This is the reverse angle shown from step 1. For ease of
installation, you should install the bottom rail brackets before the post is secured to the anchor. This way, you can use a flat surface such as a work
bench and have more control over the brackets final location. Sleeve the post down over the anchor and install using 6 - # 10 x 5/8 drill-x screws. Be sure
to plumb the post with a level when you secure it. |
 |
Step 3: The anchor rail is cut to the same angle as the bottom
rail brackets and secured using 2 - # 10 x 5/8 drill-x screws from both sides. As the photo shows, it is important to keep the inside edge, or deck side,
of the anchor rail flush with the post. The outside edge will run slightly past the post which is normal. The top rails corner dress cap will later hide
this connection. |
 |
Step 4: Cut your bottom rail to the angle needed and
gently snap down over the bracket to lock in place. You will note that even though the bottom rail bracket is cut to your deck angle, the bracket itself is
still centered on the post at the 1-5/8 mark. Our traditional bottom rail for glass is shown in this example but the picket bottom rail installation
is exactly the same. |
