Step 5: Sleeve the post down over the anchor and using
a level, plumb the post and secure to anchor with 6 - # 10 x 5/8" drill-x screws. The first screw that should be sent into the post is through the hole on
the anchor that is at the top and facing the inside of the deck. This allows the post to be freely tilted towards you, (opposite the decks slope), until a
plumb position is acheived. Angle your drill slightly downward which will pull the post snug to the anchor base when securing this first screw. Plumb
the post a second time and secure the remaining screws. |
 |
Step 6: Rest the face plate approx. 1/4 inch above the base edge
of the anchor and hold it against the length of the post. Snap it into place using the butt or handle end of a hammer or a rubber mallet starting from the
bottom. Snap the face plate in completely along one side of the post, then repeat for the other side. The butt end of the hammer should be held at
approx. a 45 degree angle to the posts corner for ease of assembly. During shipping, the face-plate may become partially snapped into the post on one or
both sides. If this is the case, completely snap the face plate onto the post and then gently tap one end to slide the plate up or down and off
the post. Do not pry the face-plate from the post as this can cause bending damage. |
 |
Step 7: The filler bar is the support
leg for the bottom rail. Insert the filler bar into the top end of the post. There are two small, built-in groove channels in the post that accept the
filler bars shape and lock it into place. Slide the bar downward until it rests on the base of the post anchor. The filler bars exposed surface or face
should be flush with the post surface. If it is not flush, you need to pull it out and reverse it. |
 |
Step 8: Cut your bottom rails with glazing or glass track, one
inch longer then the space between the base of the secured posts. For example, if the space between posts at the base is 50-1/16 inches, then cut your
bottom rail with glazing to 51-1/16 inches or 1 inch longer. Gently slide one end of the bottom rail into the groove of the post and repeat for the
opposite side. Be careful not to scratch the finish on the posts surface when setting the bottom rail into position. The bottom rail will rest on its own
weight on the filler bars you installed earlier. The 1/2 inch deep grooved post channels securely hold the bottom rail in place without the use of any
unsightly connecting brackets or additional hardware. |
